Long Bio

Lawrence Green is an expert in leadership, entrepreneurship and sales. The call to being an entrepreneur has been present in Lawrence from a young age. At 11 he identified a potential source of pocket money and he grew and sold vegetable seedlings and vegetables to the local supermarket. Being young and seeing that nobody else in his immediate environment did this kind of thing he decided he should “settle down” and get a good education.

Once he got that out of his system he embarked on a corporate career in his mid twenties. His plan had been to work for large corporates for ten years and after that be ready to launch his own management consultancy. Unfortunately, he soon realised he was completely unsuited to life in the corporate sector and went into business ten years earlier than he planned.

In effect, this meant he had to put himself through his own apprenticeship as he developed the skill sets necessary for succeeding in business. “Setting up a consultancy without really knowing how to train, coach, sell or run a business definitely created a few challenges” says Lawrence. Fourteen years later, Lawrence  is the director of Venture Education a consultancy that specialises in helping growing businesses to achieve success more quickly and easily.

Lawrence’s interest in entrepreneurship grew through wanting to find better strategies for solving his own business problems and through his work in assisting other business owners and entrepreneurs to become successful. It quickly became apparent to him that the difference that made a difference in business was more psychological than technical and he set about unfolding the structure of excellence in this area. The result is his book The Kiwi Effect.

It is Lawrence’s belief that we have an incredible pool of entrepreneurial talent in this country but that we haven’t yet learned how to harness it effectively as a nation. His personal vision involves being able to assist thousands of Kiwi entrepreneurs and innovators to make the most of their abilities so that not only do their businesses become more successful but they make a fuller contribution to their communities and the country as a whole.
